In the heart of a large Research I university, the Maryland Classics Department offers students a home where they can get to know their professors and classmates. Our classes, especially our language classes, provide opportunities for individualized attention and collaborative research. Our advanced students regularly give papers at refereed conferences and receive mentoring in professional development. Our alumni are pursuing graduate and professional studies or working in a wide variety of fields, from Classics to law, medicine, information technology, education, and social work. Finally, our students organize a number of extracurricular activities, from language tutoring to theatrical performances to museum visits. We invite you to be a part of our lively learning community.
