"The Landscape of the Lion in the Digital Age"

Art History and Archaeology | Classics Wednesday, February 1, 2017 12:00 pm

Dr. Christian Cloke, who is teaching courses in Classics and Elementary Latin at UMCP this semester, will be giving a talk in the Department of Art History about his work on survey material from Nemea, where he regularly travels in summers to do archaeological work. As Dr. Cloke puts it, he tries in this work "to beat legacy data into some sort of coherent shape - updating databases and spatial imagery and getting them to function in the service of modern, statistical and GIS-based analyses."  A fascinating talk for those interested in archaeology, geo-spatial digital humanities, classics, and more!
