The Classic's department is excited to hear about Zoe Singleton's upcoming summer internship at the Library of Congress.

The Classic's department is excited to hear about Zoe Singleton's upcoming summer internship at the Library of Congress. Her position is titled 'Journey Mapping Digital Accessibility,' located in the Library's Design & Development Office. She will be working directly with the digital production team to journey map the Library's provided accessibility devices, ultimately resulting in better access for all. This internship will provide her with a comprehensive knowledge of designing and developing digital products.

In addition to this internship, Zoe is a sophomore pursuing a B.A. in Classics. She has a broad experience working with accessibility options. Currently, she is in the process of developing an American Sign Language major and minor at UMD through an organization called "ASL NOW." ASL NOW was founded by Zoe with her fellow students in late 2019 to combat the disabled stigma around American Sign Language. At an education level, resources that are necessary to communicate with the Maryland, Virginia, and D.C. deaf community are not being provided. ASL NOW aims to combat this problem.

After receiving her B.A., Zoe would like to pursue a master's degree in Library Science to become an archivist. Her classics degree has kick started her career, as it strengthened her communication, analysis, and writing skills.
