Jake Rollo Schilling
Graduate Assistant
Classics

"Jake Shilling received his B.A. in Ancient Studies from UMBC in 2012. His senior thesis explored the intertextual relationship between Cicero's De Oratore and Plato's dialogues on rhetoric.

Jake has maintained his interest in Roman rhetorical philosophy with particular emphasis on the role Cicero played in defining the Roman perception of rhetoric. Jake's interests have also expanded to include the Roman view of language more generally as well as language education and intellectual culture in antiquity."
