Minors

Minors offer students an opportunity to pursue a coherent program of study outside the major and gain an additional form of recognition for their academic achievements.

The Classics department offers minors in four areas:

Each minor program requires a set of selected CLAS, GREK, and/or LATN courses; the second and third require at least some work in Latin or Greek at the 300 level or above, and the interdisciplinary minor in Archaeology draws on courses from many departments. Please follow the above links for additional information on these programs.

To apply for admission to any one of the four minors, students should contact (during the academic year) the undergraduate advisors in the Department of Classics: Prof. Jorge Bravo (jbravo@umd.edu) or Prof. Chiara Graf (cgraf@umd.edu); in the summer, please contact Prof. Bravo.

For more information about any of the minors, contact Prof. Jorge Bravo (jbravo@umd.edu).
