Internships

Exciting internship opportunities are available for Classics students in the Washington area and beyond. As we become aware of more options, we will add them to this page.

Check below for current internship opportunities.

Internship Opportunities

The Center for Hellenic Studies

A number of internships for undergraduates are offered annually through the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, D.C., which is affiliated with Harvard University. Since it is a research center for the study of ancient Greek literature, history, and culture, some knowledge of ancient Greek is desirable.

The Smithsonian and other Museums around DC

Apply for the General Smithsonian Internship Pool. From there, you can explore more specific opportunities, but it's always a good idea to apply to the general pool as well, since Smithsonian units may recruit students from that if they have a need for someone with particular background or expertise.

In addition to many opportunities at the Smithsonian, other museums in DC offer internships and volunteer opportunities.

The Library of Congress

You can search for opportunities at the Library of Congress here.

The National Archives and Records Administration

NARA offers a number of internships in various fields including archival work and more.

Other Opportunities

--The Joint National Committee for Languages offers several internship opportunities. Check out their page here:

--Students interested in teaching Latin may explore that career path by interning with a teacher. Contact Professor Katherine Wasdin or Professor Lillian Doherty to explore this possibility.
