Inna Kunz creates a commentary on Lucretius

For her Masters thesis in Latin at UMCP, Inna Kunz has created a commentary for high school students on Lucretius' De rerum natura.

Inna Kunz spent the spring semester creating a high school commentary to accompany some carefully selected passages of Lucretius' De Rerum Natura. This text is not typically read in high schools and the purpose of Inna's thesis project is to get some clue as to why.  She suspects that Lucretius' subversion of traditional religious and philosophical ideals causes him to be read less than other authors, but hopes to present his text in a way that would encourage students to question the world around them as Lucretius did before.  In addition, Inna successfully organized and hosted a 2-day State Convention for the MDJCL during the weekend of April 26th--the first time Maryland has attempted such an extensive event!  As for the upcoming summer, Inna has been given a grant by CAAS to attend Rusticatio in order to learn about oral Latin and how it may enrich teaching as well as the appreciation of Latin.
