Prof. Graf gave a talk entitled “The Roman Literary Heap: Between Psychoanalysis and Affect Theory.”
On Wednesday, October 15, Prof. Chiara Graf presented a paper at Cambridge University.
Entitled “The Roman Literary Heap: Between Psychoanalysis and Affect Theory”, her paper examined the way Ovid describes himself as heaping up various textual elements, such as precepts or examples, in the Remedia Amoris. Prof. Graf probed the feelings generated by this sort of textual excess, analyzing them through the lens of two modern schools of thought: psychoanalysis and affect theory.
Hers was the first in a series of weekly papers hosted by the Faculty of Classics at Cambridge on the topic of "Affect and Emotion.”
