Classics M.A. alumnus, Stephen Rojcewicz, launches his book "Thornton Wilder, Classical Reception, and American Literature" in February, 2022.

Stephen Rojcewicz, Classics M.A. alumnus (2012), who will be releasing his book Thornton Wilder, Classical Reception and American Literature in early 2022, is delighted to announce the publication of his book.

The idea for the book grew out of Rojcewicz's Ph.D. dissertation, and expanded through further research and scholarly discussion. The first comprehensive book-length study of Wilder and the classics, this work delineates how Thornton Wilder, a learned playwright and novelist, embeds himself within the classical tradition, integrating Greek and Roman motifs with a wide range of sources to produce his heart-breaking masterpieces.

Please save the date of February 16, 2022, 1-2PM EST, for the Zoom book launch of Thornton Wilder, Classical Reception, and American Literature (Routledge, 2022) by Stephen Rojcewicz. Join discussant Judy P. Hallett, Professor in Classics and distinguished Scholar-Teacher Emerita, and Steve for this event, under the auspices of the Center for Literary & Comparative Studies, University of Maryland, College Park, and the Thornton Wilder Society. Wilder scholar Lincoln Konkle, Professor of English at the College of New Jersey, will also discuss the standpoint of American Literature.
